HUR

HUR began in 1989 as a research project at the Helsinki University of Technology in Finland, built around a simple question: how can strength training be made safe and effective for people who are older, recovering or simply not used to exercise? The answer was air. Instead of weight stacks, HUR machines use pneumatic resistance that starts from almost zero and rises in small steps, so a frail 85-year-old and a recovering athlete can train on the same equipment. Over three decades the company has grown into a specialist in strength, balance and testing equipment for rehabilitation and active ageing, with around 12,000 installations on six continents and more than 90 scientific publications based on HUR equipment. Its HUR SmartTouch software links every machine into one system: users are recognised automatically, programmes are loaded on the touchscreen and every repetition is recorded, which lets clinics prove progress and manage large groups with fewer staff. The range today covers upper-body, core, lower-body and multifunction machines, a wheelchair-accessible Easy Access line, SmartBalance fall-risk testing and training, force and isometric testing, cardio equipment and the Offload unweighing system. Production is certified to ISO 13485:2016 and ISO 9001:2015.
